Portrait of Ximena Muñoz

Ximena Muñoz is a Colombian songwriter born in Cali, with more than two decades of experience writing for some of the most important artists in Latin music and building a solid international career.

She began her career at the age of 16, already displaying a clear and distinctive style. This set her on a long and complex path, far from home and everything that felt safe, breaking through her own boundaries and her family’s high expectations to forge a career in the music industry.

From the beginning of her career, Ximena has shown a remarkable ability to transform—with clarity, honesty, and empathy—the rawest emotions of those who have entrusted her with their most intimate stories into beautiful songs, while subtly weaving in stories of her own.

“Art is the only certain way we can heal and transform pain into beauty.”

Today, after 25 years of building a solid career as a songwriter, Ximena has decided once again to break through her own boundaries and cross the line that separates the songwriter from the singer-songwriter. Certain that her own story needed to be told, she steps forward for the first time with an album that is deeply honest, vulnerable, unfiltered, and free of expectations—created solely so that her lyrics and melodies might reach the hearts of those who need to hear them.

“Not every song is meant to heal; sometimes you simply listen to sit with your pain.”

After a complex creative process throughout 2025, Ximena presents La casa de las sombras, an eight-song work about life, pain, death, and love in its purest, truest, and deepest form. It is a visceral album of unprecedented honesty—her sung autobiography, as she describes it—which will be released on October 9, 2026, beginning with its first single, Cuando te ves llorar.
